Water Pipe Renewal Starts

Major work to lay three miles of new water pipes across Market Harborough has started today.

The first phase of the year-long project by Severn Trent, costing £2m, is on Rockingham Road.

At the end of April, work will also start on Kettering Road., which will be made one-way to traffic until August, with vehicles only able to travel towards the A6 at Clack Hill.

There will also be a seven week closure of Rockingham Road at the railway bridge for seven weeks in August.

Severn Trent say the work to replace steel pipes, which are over 60 years old in places, will help prevent bursts and leaks which have increased in the past two years.
