Major Water Pipe Work To Start

Work to lay three miles of new water pipes across Market Harborough is about to start and a full timetable of the works has now been released to Hfm.
The first phase of the year-long project by Severn Trent, costing £2m will be on Rockingham Road – between the railway bridge and Valley Way, which is expected to take just over two months.

Preparation work for that began today, with a site office, barriers, signs and health and safety equipment set to be put in place over the next few days
At the end of April it will start on Kettering Road, which will be made one-way to traffic until August, before it returns to Rockingham Road, where it will be shut to traffic for seven weeks at the railway bridge.

In September new pipes will start being laid in the Clarence Street area, with the final work taking place on Roman Way and Doddridge Road and Western Avenue early next year.
The firm hope the work will reduce the number of burst pipes and leaks.
