Warning Issued After Couple Ask Schoolgirls For Photo

A warning has been issued after two schoolgirls were approached by a couple who asked to take photos of them.
It happened yesterday morning, as the year seven pupils were walking to Welland Park Academy along Welland Park Road, near the Farndon Road roundabout.
The girls declined but it is believed the man and woman then took pictures of other children.

Police have been informed of the incident, between 8.15am and 8.30am, and pupils are being urged to report any other suspicious incidents.
The warning sent to parents from Welland Park Academy today reads: “A man and woman approached the 2 girls asking if they could take photos of them.
“When the girls declined, the couple asked directions to the town centre but proceeded to walk off in a different direction. It is believed they took photos of other children.
“The man is described as dark skinned, in his 40’s, beard with some grey in it, glasses and of average height and build. He was wearing a camera around his neck.
“The woman is described as dark skinned, in her 40’s and of slim build.
“Please remind your youngsters to be careful when they are out and about and to report anything suspicious.”
Leicestershire Police have echoed the school’s advice for anything suspicious to be reported.
