Warning After Attempted Purse Snatch

Thieves tried to steal a purse from a shopper in the car-park of a Market Harborough supermarket yesterday.

It happened at Aldi, on Springfield Street, when the woman was putting her trolley back and felt a pull on her shoulder, to find a man behind her trying to get the purse out of her bag.

After shouting at him, he fled with another man in the direction of Waitrose.

The victim believes she was targeted from the moment she withdrew money from the ATM inside the store and was then followed.

One of the men was behind her in the queue to pay – it’s thought he was trying to look at what her pin number was as she was paying.

The men are described as being in their 30s and of Eastern European appearance.

There have been a number of similar incidents in the car park, which is shared with Waitrose, in recent months.

Police have launched and investigation and are reviewing CCTV.
