Vandals Strike In Market Harborough Town Centre

Police are investigating a spate of criminal damage in Market Harborough town centre.

A bench was ripped out of the ground and thrown into the river and a Naseby Battlefield interpretation board damaged beyond repair.

The bench was located on the Millennium Mile opposite the Memorial Gardens, while the board was on High Street, near the Abbey Street junction.

The vandalism happened on Saturday night and Harborough District Council retrieved the bench from the water yesterday and removed the board for safety reasons.

Council leader Phil Knowles has condemned those responsible and urged anyone with information to contact Police, who are studying CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
