Vandals have damaged trees planted in Market Harborough for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.

Branches have been ripped off some and tops snapped off others placed around Burford Green on Western Avenue – one has had to removed.

The District Council has reported the criminal damage to the Police and is urging anyone with information to contact officers on 101.

Cllr Jonathan Bateman, Cabinet lead for parks and open spaces, said: “We know local residents are very protective of the trees and really appreciate them, so to hear some have been vandalised is very disappointing; please do contact police if you can help.”

35 new trees were planted around the area in February, including five specially-named Queen Elizabeth Acer trees.
