Wingates Gallery in Market Harborough has given a bumper supply of paints, brushes, sketchpads and pencils to a school’s art students.
The gallery, on St Mary’s Road, has provided the art supplies worth over £1,500 for GCSE and A-level students at Wigston Academy.

Louise Claricoates, Director of Learning for Post-16 at Wigston Academy, said: “The support we have received from Andrew and Kathryn at Wingates Gallery has been a huge boost for our students and for art and design as a subject at Wigston Academy.
“We are so grateful for their contributions which make a real difference to the standard of work our students produce.
“The resources that are kindly donated by Wingates Gallery give our A-level students further motivation and allow them to work with a wider range of media. It improves the quality of their work and prepares them further for the transition from A-Level to degree courses.”
Andrew Cartwright, who runs the gallery with his wife Kathryn, said: “At Wingates Gallery, we are passionate about bringing art to the people and what better place to start than with students learning the subject at school,” he said. “We hope that our donation goes some way to helping to give the pupils the chance to fall in love with art at an early stage.
“Our aim is to help provide the tools and materials that will allow some of these students to hone their skills and develop their own style before going on to become professional artists in the future. Not only do we believe in looking after our artists that we represent today but also those who, one day, we may be representing in the future.”
