Police have today held an operation in and around Market Harborough targeting travelling criminals as part of a week of action targeting rural crime.
A check-point was set-up off this morning off the A6 at the McDonald’s roundabout.

Vehicles – including those carrying farm and plant machinery were stopped for checks – to ensure the items were not stolen.
27 vehicles were stopped, of which two were seized because they had no insurance and five Police tickets issued for other motoring offences.

Officers have also worked with the Driver Vehicle Standards Agency, who issued a number of ‘prohibition notices’ after vehicles were found with defects or overweight, and Harborough Council, who checked drivers carrying waste had the correct licences.
