Job Losses At Tesco Metro

A number of workers at Market Harborough’s Tesco Metro store have lost their jobs.
Hfm understands 16 members of staff have been made redundant, some of whom had worked at the supermarket on The Square for over ten years, although the company is refusing to confirm the exact number.
It was announced in the summer the supermarket giant planned to cut 4,500 jobs nationwide, with Metro stores to be hardest hit with a change in the way they operate.
A Tesco spokesperson told Hfm: “We’re grateful to all our colleagues for their professionalism during a difficult time. We never take decisions which impact our colleagues lightly.”
