‘Tommy’ Soldier To Be Replaced After Wind Damage

Market Harborough’s iconic WW1 ‘Tommy’ soldier has been damaged by the recent strong winds.
The silhouette snapped from its base beside the War Memorial on The Square and has been removed by Harborough District Council, which will replace it with a stronger version in the coming months.

The aluminium figure was erected in 2018 as part of commemorations to mark 100 years since the end of World War One.
