Three People Die Following House Fire

Three people have died following a house fire in the village of Rushton, near Desborough.

Police, fire and ambulance services were called to reports of a large blaze at the property in Beswick Close at around 10.30pm yesterday.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, three people were later sadly confirmed to have died.

Three police officers later required hospital assessment due to smoke inhalation.

Roads near the scene of the fire have been closed by police

Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Road closures remain in place in Station Road between Desborough Road and Oakley Road, including roads off Station Road, with people asked to avoid the area.

The house is adjacent to the railway line and rail services were suspended following the fire, but have since resumed.
