Three HFM area beauty spots recognised among best in country

Some of the HFM area’s best-loved outdoor spaces have been honoured with national awards.

Foxton Locks and East Carlton Country Park have both retained their prestigious Green Flag Awards, while All Saints Churchyard in Lubenham has received the accolade for the first time.

The awards, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, recognise parks, gardens and open spaces that meet the highest standards for being welcoming, safe, well maintained and sustainably managed.

Foxton Locks, managed by the Canal & River Trust, continues to be recognised as one of the country’s top waterside attractions.

East Carlton Country Park, managed by North Northamptonshire Council, has retained its award for the quality of its facilities, environment and visitor experience.

The Green Flag has also been awarded for the first time to All Saints Churchyard in Lubenham, recognising the work of Lubenham in Bloom in maintaining and improving the historic site.

It was presented to William Sunderland, who has been cutting the grass in the churchyard for the last 35 years.

The Green Flag Award is an international benchmark for quality green spaces, celebrating the efforts of volunteers, councils and organisations that help care for outdoor areas for residents and visitors.
