Angel Hotel
The Angel Hotel in Market Harborough has closed down.
Bosses say they have taken the decision ‘with a heavy heart’ for a number of reasons, including the owners retiring.
The historic High Street hotel, which has been shut for the past few weeks, as part of the government’s lock-down rules, won’t re-open when they are lifted.
For many years the venue has been a community hub for clubs, groups and organisations, who were allowed to use rooms for free.
They will be contacted in the coming days about any equipment they have stored there.
Sarah Hill is a member of some of the voluntary groups who met at the hotel regularly and gave her reaction to Hfm:
Management are thanking staff, who will lose their jobs, for their hard work and loyalty – some have worked at the hotel for over ten years.
In January students from Brooke House College moved into the majority of the rooms at the hotel, with only a limited number available for guests, although the bar and function rooms remained available to the public.
