Telecoms Mast Branded ‘Horrendous Eye-Sore’

A new mobile phone mast in Market Harborough has been branded a ‘horrendous eye-sore’.
The 5G mast was erected at the junction of Welland Park Road and Northampton Road on Friday and is around 15 metres tall.

The mast has been erected at the Welland Park Road/Northampton Road junction in Market Harborough.
People living near-by say the size of the mast, which will give mobile users faster data speeds, is out-of-keeping with the location and they were give no prior notice it was to be installed.
Tracey Foster lives near to the mast and told HFM she is shocked and angry:

It is currently unclear if planning permission would have been needed for the mast, as those below a certain height do not require it.
However, telecoms firms are required to notify planning authorities that they wish to site a mast in a certain spot.
Harborough District Council has been approached for comment.
