Suspicious Incident Prompts ‘Stranger Danger’ Warning

Another ‘stranger danger’ alert has been issued after a suspicious incident in Market Harborough.
A man in a blue Land Rover pulled up alongside two school boys at the corner of Ashley Way and Simborough Way and kept asking them for the time, despite one of the youngsters noticing there was a clock in the vehicle, showing the correct time
It happened just after 4pm on Monday as they were on their way home from Welland Park Academy.
Police have been informed of the incident and the school has made students and parents aware, along with other schools in the town.
It is the latest incident in recent weeks involving schoolchildren being approached or followed.
As a result Police have stepped patrols around schools and the start and end of the day.
Welland Park Academy sent out the account of the incident given to them by the parents of the boy who was stopped.
It reads: “My son and his friend were stopped by a large light blue Land Rover by a man around 30-40 wearing a body warmer, shaved hair and a slight beard.
“It happened at 16:04 last night (Monday).
“He has empty dog cages in the back of the car and was asking the time – my son saw into the dashboard and his clock was correct.
“So he had no reason to stop them.
“The man proceeded to ask twice – even though the boys had answered him and kept looking them up and down.
“This happened on the corner of Simborough Way and Ashley Way.”
