A suspected XL Bully dog has been seized by Police after it attacked another dog in Desborough.

Officers were called to the Grange Estate on Saturday afternoon, following reports the dog was running loose.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police told HFM: “This incident happened at about 2.50pm and involved a dog, believed to be an XL Bully, attacking another dog in Thistle Drive, Desborough.

“The dog was seized and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.”

From 1 February, it became an offence in England and Wales to own an XL Bully without an exemption certificate.

The animals must be muzzled and on a lead in public, among other restrictions.
