Armed Forces Honoured At Ceremony In Market Harborough

Veterans have gathered in Market Harborough to mark the lead-up to Armed Forces Day.

A flag-raising ceremony was held on Church Square this morning, which was also attended by representatives from service organisations, Harborough District Council, Leicestershire Police and members of the public.

Armed Forces Day is Saturday and held nationally to show support for the work of the forces community past and present.

Stewart Harrison, chairman of the Royal British Legion in Market Harborough, told HFM why it is important:

A minute’s silence was held during the ceremony, with the Armed Forces Day to fly on top of the Symington Building all this week.

Pat Middleton, secretary of Market Harborough Royal Naval Association was also at the event and spoke to HFM:
