Street Lighting Upgrades Begin in Town Centre

Long-awaited work to upgrade street lighting in Market Harborough town centre has begun today.
Leicestershire County Council is replacing 50 obsolete wall-mounted lights with energy-efficient LED fittings, at a cost of up to £200,000.
Several of the lights have been broken for over 18 months prompting safety concerns, as roads and pavements are dark in some areas.
Work on the upgrade has begun today
County councillor for Market Harborough East, Sarah Hill, has campaigned for the work to take place:
Parking bays on both sides of the High Street between Abbey Street and Bowden Lane are closed this week to allow the first stage of the work to take place safely.
