Smoke Alert at Shop Sparks Police & Fire Response in Market Harborough

There was plenty of smoke but thankfully no fire in Market Harborough town centre yesterday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to Steffans Jewellers just after 4pm after smoke was seen pouring from the shop on The Square.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service say it turned out to be a false alarm, caused by the shop’s intruder smoke cloak system activating in error.

Police also attended the scene amid concerns the premises may have been being burgled.
