Villagers Feel “Abandoned” as Water Problems Continue

Villagers near Market Harborough say they feel “abandoned” as water supply problems continue into a fourth day during heatwave conditions.
Taps ran dry in East Farndon on Saturday morning and residents say only today has water started to return, although at very low pressure.
The pump failure has also affected other nearby villages, including Clipston, Arthingworth and Great Oxendon, with residents criticising the lack of bottled water or water bowsers.
Around 380 properties were affected.
Bernie Fallon and Angus Thomas were among residents in East Farndon left without water.
People in East Farndon resorted to collecting buckets of water from an ancient village spring to flush their toilets.

The area has suffered ten separate water outages this year alone and Bernie Fallon, chairman of East Farndon Parish Council, says Anglian Water should be doing more to support people:
Anglian Water has apologised and says engineers have been working to restore supplies as quickly as possible.
The company says the issue was caused by a pump problem combined with exceptionally high demand during the hot weather.
A spokesperson told HFM restoration tankers were used to pump extra water into the network to help boost pressure, meaning bottled water was not distributed, and all customers are now back on supply.
