Services To Benefit From Business Rate Change

Services across Harborough are set to benefit after the government granted permission for the Council to retain 75% of the cash it collects through Business Rates.

Up til now half has had to go to Central Government, but that will change as part of a pilot scheme in just 15 areas of the country.

The extra money – around £14m across Leicestershire – will be used to invest in town centres, provide additional homelessness support and towards reducing demand on children’s social care by investing in services to avoid children entering into care.
