Reminder to residents about waste disposal

Written by on 3rd March 2020

Harborough Police and the District Council are reminding residents who need to get rid of rubbish from their homes to beware of unlicensed carriers who take your money but then fly-tip it in our countryside.

Householders are legally responsible for any waste produced on their property and have a ‘duty of care’ to check that any person or business disposing of it is legally allowed to do so.

Since April last year more than a dozen fines have been issued by the Council to home owners who’ve had dumped waste traced back to them.

The warning comes as investigations are underway into where a quantity of household waste dumped just before the weekend at East Langton originated from.
