Railway Station Bike Thief Pleads Guilty

A thief has admitted stealing bikes worth over £1,000 from outside Market Harborough Railway Station.

Richard Marlow, 41, of Havelock Street, Kettering, stole four bicycles from a temporary cycle storage area off Rockingham Road during July, August and September last year.

He has pleaded guilty to five charges of theft at Leicester Magistrates – four relate Market Harborough and the other to Kettering, where he stole a bike from the railway station there in October 2019.

Marlow has been remanded into custody ahead of sentencing.

British Transport Police mounted an operation following a rise in thefts from Market Harborough Railway Station last year.

A new ‘cycle hub’ has since been constructed to provide more secure storage for bicycles.
