Written by HFM News on 12th September 2022
Rail strikes which were to disrupt services from Market Harborough on Thursday and Saturday have been called off following the Queen’s death.
Unions have suspended the walk-outs and East Midlands Railway says the normal timetable will operate on both days.
A spokesperson for the train operator said: “In light of the extremely sad news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the planned industrial action by TSSA and RMT on 15 and 17 September has been suspended.
“Our normal scheduled timetable will operate on these days.
“We are mindful that customers may have made arrangements to travel on alternative dates as a result of the planned action. Previously advertised ticket easements will remain in place.”
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “RMT joins the whole nation in paying its respects to Queen Elizabeth.
“The planned railway strike action on 15 and 17 September is suspended.
“We express our deepest condolences to her family, friends and the country.”
