Raft Of Measures Considered To Deal With Trouble At Park

Written by on 15th April 2021

A raft of measures are being considered to deal with anti-social behaviour at Little Bowden Recreation Ground.

Police are working Harborough District Council to tackle the problems, which have been affecting residents living close to the park.

The Council is considering installing permanent CCTV and even shutting the area off overnight, should issues persist.

Test purchase operations with the Police will be carried out, to try and to find out where young people are getting alcohol from, and a public meeting is set to be organised, so residents can have their say.

On several occasions in recent weeks Police have been called to large noisy gatherings at the Rec, with reports of drug taking and under-age drinking.

Patrols have since been stepped up.

Volunteers have spent the following mornings clearing up litter strewn across the area.

Letters, prepared jointly by the Council and Police have been sent to over 100 residents living close to the park, outlining the details.

Cllr Simon Whelband, chair of the Harborough District Community Safety Partnership, told Hfm they are working hard to tackle the issue:
