Questions Over Roadworks Planning
Written by HFM News on 21st January 2020
Questions are being asked why Highway bosses have allowed roadworks on two key routes in and out of Market Harborough at the same time.
Parts of Leicester Road are closed during the day all this week for resurfacing works, while 4-way temporary traffic lights are in operation at the St Mary’s Road/Kettering Road and Clarence Street junction.
They caused gridlock last night when the lights got stuck of red – Severn Trent Water which is carrying out the work there has apologised.
A spokesman told Hfm: “We’d like to apologise to everyone affected by the issue with the lights yesterday. As soon as we were made aware they were stuck on red we got a team out to fix them.”
Harborough County Councillor Sarah Hill spoke to Hfm:
Leicestershire County Council have been approached for comment.
