Prolific Burglar Jailed After Crime Spree

A prolific burglar who was part of a gang that targeted homes in and around Market Harborough to steal high-performance cars has been jailed for nearly four years.

Connor Williams took part in 19 burglaries over a two-and-a-half month period from November last year, which saw cars worth a total of nearly £120,000 stolen.

Homes were broken into in Market Harborough, Desborough, Tilton on the Hill and Bushby, as well as other parts of Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and the east midlands.

Police were able to link the 27-year-old to all the crimes after examining data from his mobile phone.

Williams, of HMP Leicester, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle and was jailed for 45 months at Leicester Crown Court.

Detective Sergeant James Willoughby, the deputy senior investigating officer, said: “In each of these incidents, it became clear that the primary target was high-value or high-powered cars. We later learned they were something that Williams was obsessed with.

“In total, the total loss to their owners came to nearly £120,000.

“But the impact of the offending hasn’t just had a financial impact on the owners of the vehicles. On many occasions, there were young children inside the houses that were burgled and we know this has had a lasting impact on them.

“I hope the public can take some reassurance from the fact Williams has now been brought to justice and is facing the consequence of his offending.”
