Police Target Stolen Goods at Saddington Car Boot

Police will step up patrols at Saddington Car Boot Sale over the coming weeks to help tackle the sale of suspected stolen goods.
Officers will engage with sellers and buyers, identify suspected stolen property and discourage criminal activity.
They will also be carrying out checks on trailers, which officers say remain a popular target for thieves.
Police are warning shoppers to be cautious when buying items and to think twice if a deal appears too good to be true.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “We’ll be carrying out patrols to help identify suspected stolen property, engage with sellers and buyers, and discourage the purchase and sale of items that may have found their way to the boot sale through less-than-legitimate means.”
The force says anyone who unknowingly buys stolen goods could lose both the item and the money they paid for it.
Officers stressed that the vast majority of traders and visitors are honest people looking for a bargain and that the aim of the patrols is to keep the popular weekly event safe for everyone.
