Police Investigate Car Break-In & Stolen Bank Cards

Police are investigating after a thief broke into a car in Market Harborough and used stolen bank cards in local shops.

The Ford Kuga was targeted on Stuart Road in the early hours of yesterday, with a purse stolen from the glove compartment.

The vehicle’s owner, Cassandra Nichols, was alerted to the theft after her bank contacted her about suspicious activity on her account, with around £200 spent in a short amount of time.

She later obtained CCTV of the suspect from one store and passed it onto Police.

The car was targeted in Stuart Road, Market Harborough

It is believed the break-in happened between 5.30am and 6am.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “It was reported that a purse was taken and cards within it were used to make purchases at shops in Market Harborough.

“Enquiries into the incident are continuing and we would ask anyone with information to get in touch quoting reference 26*22944.”

There are reports other vehicles were also broken into in the area on Monday morning.
