Police Act Over ‘County Lines’ Concerns

Police have temporarily closed down a flat in Market Harborough which is thought to have been taken over by a county lines drug dealing gang.

It’s after the tenant living at the property near the town centre – deemed a vulnerable person – was forced to leave as a result, in what’s known as ‘cuckooing.’

Officers removed people from inside yesterday afternoon – although no arrests were made – to enable a Housing Association to take possession of the flat.

The front door was then secured with a metal plate, ahead of the tenant being able to return.

They are urging anyone who suspects a property is being used in this way to report it on 101 or via Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
