Plans To Try And Deal With High Pollution Levels In Kibworth Progress

A draft Action Plan to deal with pollution problems in Kibworth has been published by Harborough Council.
It details ways of trying to deal with the issue, that affects the stretch of the A6 Leicester Road from the Wistow Road roundabout to Church Road.
Levels of Nitrogen Dioxide – caused by vehicle fumes – are consistently above recommended health guidelines.
The plan includes potential junction improvements – to reduce queuing traffic and taking the issue into account when considering planning applications for new homes.
Although a bypass would deal with the issue, it isn’t included in the plan as it would take too long to bring to fruition and ways of dealing with the issue in the short-term need to be more urgent.
Over 20,000 thousand vehicles a day travel along the stretch of the road.
20 properties are included in the so-called Air Quality Management Area.
