Plans Announced For ‘Story Centre’ In Market Harborough

Plans have been announced to open a Story Centre in Market Harborough.
The facility, which would be the first of its kind in the East Midlands, would provide activities for children and adults and the group behind the idea have secured charitable status, so they can fundraise towards the ambitious project.
They want the centre to hold various activities, including enabling stories to be converted into performance plays and reminiscence groups to be held, for older people with conditions like Alzheimer’s.
Prior the securing a building, workshops will be held around story-making and telling in addition to fundraising events and other performances.
Ray Smyth came up with the idea and is a trustee of Market Harborough Story Centre.
She spoke to HFM’s Nick Shaw:
The group’s first workshop is on Saturday September 24th and will see professional storyteller Rob Parkinson lead a workshop on the Art of Storytelling followed by a performance in the evening.
It will be held at The Cube on Symington’s Recreational Ground and tickets cost £40 for the workshop and £12 for the performance.
