Parking Ban ‘Would Threaten Post Office’

There are fears Great Bowden will lose its Post Office if parking restrictions are introduced in the centre of the village.

Double yellow lines would go down around the junction of The Green, Main Street and Dingley Road and directly outside the Weltons shop – that houses the Post Office – if the move goes ahead.

The restrictions are being considered following concerns about safety.

A Leicestershire County Council spokesperson said: “We were asked by the parish council to design a scheme for double yellow lines in the centre of Great Bowden.

“We are currently assessing the feedback received from the parish on the proposed scheme we sent to them, which may be progressed subject to parish funding.”
