Over 90 Homes In & Around Market Harborough To Become More Energy Efficient

Over 90 homes in and around Market Harborough will be made more energy efficient after a housing association was awarded government funding of over £12m.

It will enable Platform Housing Group to carry out a range of improvements, including installing new windows and doors, external and internal insulation, solar panels and air source heat pumps.

Tenants living in houses deemed most in need will benefit, the majority of which are terraced or semi-detached.

The grant, awarded through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, will also be used in four other areas of the country where Platform has housing stock, with nearly 1,000 homes in total to see improvements.

Works will be carried out over the next two years and Stephen Edwards, Head of Sustainability for Platform Housing Group said: “This invaluable funding will help us to deliver real benefits for our customers through reduced energy bills and more comfortable homes.

“Here at Platform we are building our capacity to improve the energy efficiency of our homes in our drive to achieve a minimum EPC C for all our homes by 2030 and net zero by 2050.

“This grant provides us with a huge boost to make energy and carbon saving improvements at a time when the cost of living and damp and mould are presenting real challenges to the housing sector.”
