A new company will takeover running Market Harborough and Lutterworth Leisure Centres next year.
It’s been announced today Leicestershire-based ‘Everyone Active’ has been awarded the £600,000 contract to operate the facilities for at least the next three years.
They will take-on all existing staff employed by current contractor, the Harborough District Leisure Trust and Serco – who have run the centres for the past 15 years.
Cllr James Hallam, Harborough Council’s portfolio holder for finance and assets, said: “We’d like to thank the Harborough District Leisure Trust and Serco for the service they have provided for customers and are continuing to provide until the end of March.”
Everyone Active has more than 30 years in providing leisure facilities and operates centres in other parts of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
Cllr Hallam added: “Councillors agreed the Everyone Active bid demonstrated excellent value for money, with significant opportunities to improve what is currently offered across the Harborough district in an innovative, dynamic and sustainable way.”
The Council will work with the new firm as it continues to develop plans to replace the out-dated leisure centre in Market Harborough and refurbish Lutterworth Sports Centre.
