Market Harborough Jeweller Retires After Four Decades

A Market Harborough jeweller has retired after more than 40 years of serving customers in the town.

Ajay Vaitha has closed County Jewellers on the High Street, bringing an end to a family business he opened with his brothers in November 1983.

Customers have sent cards wishing Ajay all the best for the future, and he has thanked the people of the town for their support over the years, as well as his landlord and owner of the premises, the Market Harborough & The Bowdens Charity.

The premises had already been home to a jeweller’s for many years before County Jewellers opened, meaning the closure marks the end of a long history for the shop.

Although County Jewellers has now closed, Ajay’s family will continue to have a connection with Market Harborough, with his brothers carrying on running County Crafts in the town.
