Man Sentenced After Admitting Sexual Communication With Child

A Market Harborough man has been given a suspended prison sentence and made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order after admitting engaging in sexual communication with a child.
Paul Cockerill, 63, of Thornborough Close, was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court following an incident in the town centre on July 24th.
Cockerill was arrested on The Square after approaching a young girl, telling her she was attractive and asking to kiss her.

The ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order includes strict restrictions on contact with girls under 18.
It also prevents him from entering places including schools, childcare settings, playgrounds and swimming pools where under-18s are present.
Cockerill was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
He was also given six months of electronic tagging, must complete a probation programme and register with police for 10 years.
