Man Jailed For Ignoring Ban On Entering Harborough

A man has been jailed for ten weeks for ignoring a ban on entering the majority of Market Harborough.

Leigh Marlow was arrested by Police on the High Street on Friday for breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order.

It was imposed in January for five years, after he assaulted Police officers, damaged the iconic ‘Tommy’ silhouette soldier by the War Memorial on The Square, and was repeatedly a public nuisance by being drunk in public.

The 35 year old, of no fixed abode, has been sentenced at Leicester Magistrates, and was also convicted of using threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, following a separate incident in Market Harborough in February, which again breached the terms of the order.

The order prohibited Marlow from entering the town centre unless visiting a specific address or being drunk in a public place.

Sergeant Pete Jelbert, based at Market Harborough police station, said: “Marlow had no regard for the order that was imposed on him earlier in the year and returned to Market Harborough despite being prohibited from doing so.

“However local officers saw him and he was promptly arrested and charged.

“While we’re pleased Marlow has been given a custodial sentence, should he be seen in future, I would ask the public to contact us. If you have any information please contact 101.”
