Lack Of Dental Services in Market Harborough ‘At Crisis Point’

A lack of access to dentists in Market Harborough has reached crisis point according to campaigners.

It is believed thousands of people in the town are struggling to get NHS treatment, as one practice will stop providing it for adults next month.

Brookside Dental announced earlier this year it was forced to take the decision after being unable to recruit a new dentist to offer NHS treatment, despite advertising the position for year.

Since then over 4,000 of the practice’s patients have been trying to find alternative provision, but with no dentists in the town taking on new adult NHS patients unless they are referred, it is proving almost impossible.

New by the Liberal Democrats reveals some people are resorting to ‘DIY dentistry’ after being unable to access care and the party is calling for the government to properly fund services to avoid patients being put at risk.
