It’s 20 Years Since Historic Hallaton Treasure Discovery!

It is 20 years since the Hallaton treasure was found!

The collection of over 5,000 silver and coins, a Roman cavalry helmet, jewellery and other objects turned out to be one of the most important Iron Age discoveries in Britain.

In November 2000, metal detectorist, Ken Wallace from the Hallaton Fieldwork Group first discovered the gold and silver coins in a field just outside the village.

The riches of the Hallaton Treasure are displayed in the Treasure Gallery at Harborough Museum and a Facebook live event is taking place at 1.30pm today to celebrate the anniversary, as the Museum remains temporarily closed because of Covid-19 restrictions.
