Investigation Confirms Fire Was Started Deliberately

A fire that destroyed over a thousand bales of straw in West Langton was arson.

An investigation into the blaze in an open-sided barn on West Langton Road on Sunday evening has concluded it was started deliberately.

Fire crews from Market Harborough, Kibworth and Wigston were called to deal with the blaze in an just before 8.30pm after being alerted by passing Police officers.

They remained at the scene for several hours.

• A fire involving hay bales in Harrington yesterday is also thought to have been started deliberately.  Firefighters from Desborough were called to a field off Lamport Road just before 11.30am to deal with two, one-tonne bales of straw alight.
