Inquest into plane accident death

An inquest’s begun into the death last month of a Harborough aerobatics
student.

30 year old aircraft engineer Thomas Castle, from Market Harborough, was
flying with his instructor Emily Collett when their plane came down in a
field in Oxfordshire on the 24th of August.

Both casualties were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash – which
happened at just after two in the afternoon.

Graeme Fudge from the British Aerobatics Association said 35 year-old
Mrs Collett was an incredibly talented and highly experienced aerobatic
pilot – who’d won both the Standard and Advanced British national
titles.

Mrs Collett had also starred in a BBC TV show in which she taught Carol
Vorderman to fly a loop-the-loop.

A full inquest into the pair’s death will be held after the Air
Accidents’ Investigation Branch has published its findings – which could
take up to twelve months.
