Increase In Dog Fouling Complaints

There has been a big increase in complaints about dog fouling across the Harborough District.

127 have been made in the past year – 40 more than the previous 12 months – and three times the number five years ago.

The figures have been released by Harborough Council as it considers extending a Public Place Protection Order.

That gives wardens the power to issue fines to owners who fail to clear up after their pets, don’t carry poop bags and fail to put dogs on leads when directed to.
