Housing Associations Awarded Funding For Affordable Homes

More than £660,000 of government funding is being awarded to two housing associations working across the HFM area to help build new affordable homes.
Platform Housing Group and EMH Housing are among housing providers sharing almost £10 billion in the first wave of funding from a £39 billion government programme.
The funding announced today will support the delivery of more than 5,000 new affordable homes by the two organisations.
The money comes through the Government’s Affordable Homes Programme, which is intended to increase the supply of affordable housing across England via councils and housing associations.
The wider programme was announced by the Government last year and is expected to support the delivery of hundreds of thousands of affordable and social homes over its five-year funding period.
The first wave of investment is being allocated to councils, housing associations and other providers to help get new developments moving, including social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership properties.
The Government says the programme will help provide more secure and affordable housing while supporting the construction sector and local economies.
