Hospital Ward Re-Opens After £575k Upgrade

A ward at St Luke’s Hospital in Market Harborough has re-opened following a major refurbishment costing over half-a-million pounds.

The project has included installing a new roof over the ward, which provides patients with complex rehabilitation and end-of-life care.

The area was closed for three months to allow the work to take place and staff were redeployed to other community hospitals.

They returned on Monday and 14 patients have been admitted since.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust said: “We are really pleased to report that Ward 3 of St Luke’s Hospital has reopened to patients following essential roof repair work.

“While the ward was closed for the roof repairs, additional work was also undertaken and decoration completed to ensure a better environment for patients and staff.

“We would like to thank staff and patients for their flexibility in accommodating this move while repair works were taking place, and hope the improvements will be welcomed by all.”

NHS Property Services, which owns the Leicester Road site, funded the £575,000 project.
