Harborough Boy’s ‘Bionic’ Fundraiser

Written by on 24th April 2024

A Welland Park Academy student could soon be benefitting from a new ‘bionic’ arm and hand thanks to the continuing crowdfunding efforts of his family and friends.

15-year-old Brooklyn was born with a rare genetic disorder, which meant his limbs had not formed properly and his right hand was missing altogether.

He and two other teenagers have already received financial support from The Open Bionics Foundation, Foresight Group and an anonymous donor towards the £20,000 needed for each “Hero Arm” – which has a fully functioning hand and fingers.

Brooklyn’s mum, Stacey Flude, says getting the artificial limb would change his life dramatically…

Although Brooklyn has coped without any aids so far, the teenager agrees having a “Hero Arm” would be a massive help…
