Great Bowden Homes Plan Rejected In Council U-Turn

Controversial plans to build a new housing estate in Great Bowden have been turned down.

Harborough Council’s planning committee last night refused permission for the 33-home development on the Bowden Fencing site, off Leicester Lane, on the grounds it went against the village’s Neighbourhood Plan.

It was a U-turn on a decision to approve the scheme earlier this month, at a meeting that was then declared null and void, after the public were prevented from viewing the on-line webcast of proceedings, because of a technical error.

Great Bowden Parish Council and some villagers opposed the development, arguing Great Bowden had taken its fair share of new housing developments in recent years.
