Former Social Club Plans Recommended For Approval Despite Objections

Plans to redevelop a former Working Men’s Club in Kibworth Beauchamp are being recommended for approval, despite concerns from villagers.

The proposals would see the building on Fleckney Road converted into nine flats.

More than 30 people have submitted objections to the plans, with parking and highway safety among the main concerns.

Kibworth Beauchamp Parish Council has also objected to the application.

The council says there are too many flats for the available space and claims the proposed homes would provide a cramped living environment, with limited windows and storage.

It has also raised concerns about the amount of parking, the impact on the surrounding road network and the effect on existing issues along Fleckney Road.

Other concerns include inadequate space for wheelie bins and questions over the number of access points and whether they would be practical or meet regulations.

The planning system has recorded 38 objections and one letter of support.

The supporting comment said simply: “we need more homes”.

Harborough District Council’s planning committee will consider the application next week.
