Foodbank Launches Urgent Appeal

An urgent appeal has been launched by Market Harborough’s Jubilee Foodbank as it copes with record demand and dwindling donations.

The charity is receiving around 100 referrals a month and providing 5.500 meals to people in food poverty, which is the same number as at the height of the Covid pandemic.

At the same time donations have dropped, as they often do during the summer months, meaning food stocks have reached dangerously low levels.

With a further surge in demand expected during the school summer holidays, volunteers are appealing for the public’s support.

There are nine donation points in Market Harborough where you can donate non-perishable, long-life or tinned foods.

They can be found at Sainbury’s, Waitrose, Harborough Leisure Centre, B&M Bargains, Mercado Lounge, Henderson Connellan, The Village and both Co-Ops.
