Firefighters Tackle Harborough Garden Blaze
Written by HFM News on 11th August 2025
Investigations are underway after a bonfire spread out of control in a residential area of Market Harborough over the weekend.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service was called out to a fire, at Meadow Street in the town, late on Saturday evening (9th August).
Four crews – from Billesdon, Kibworth, Wigston and Leicester – found a bonfire in a garden had spread to three sheds and fence panels. Shrubbery and hedgerow in an adjacent garden were also affected.
Firefighters used three hose reel jets, one main jet and drag forks to extinguish the blaze – with thermal imaging cameras used to detect any further hot spots.
The incident happened just after Market Harborough Fire Station posted a “Don’t spark trouble this summer” alert on its social media. It warns the current warm, dry conditions make fires more likely – both at home and in our countryside.”
